About Herbertstown AFC

Our Club & Teams

Herbertstown AFC was founded in 1976 and serves a wide geographical rural area in South East Limerick. Our club now has a membership of over 200 players: with teams from U6 to U17, as well as a Junior Ladies team, two Junior Men’s teams and Football For All.

FAI Club Mark

We are one of the first eight clubs in Ireland to be awarded the FAI Club Mark in recognition of our strong governance structures and good practice in areas of child protection, coaching and ethos. An ethos where the fun comes first and winning second.

Club Objectives

The main objective of the Club is to promote, foster, and develop the game of football, to provide football for players of all ages and abilities and to create a fun and harmonious environment for players to develop.

Soccer Sisters & Football For All

In 2015 we introduced Soccer Sisters, an initiative that has resulted in girls’ teams at U10, U12, U14, U16 and U17. Our younger girls play in our mixed U6 and U8 squads.

In April 2018, with the support of the FAI, we launched our Football for All Programme at the club to offer children and young people aged 5-18, who for various reasons don’t play in mainstream soccer, the opportunity to do so.

Mission Statement

The work of Herbertstown AFC is based on five principles that guide the development of soccer for young people in the club. Children and young people’s experience of soccer need to be guided by what is best for them. The stages of development and the ability of the child guide the types of activity provided within the club. The 5 principles are:

  • Integrity in relationships
  • Quality atmosphere and ethos
  • Equality
  • Fair Play
  • Competition
